There is some exciting leather news for enthusiasts of timeless hides. Latest trends within fashion this fall indicates that leather is still the leading material for accessories. MZ Wallace has released their first ever capsule leather collection, which is relatively affordable with the price ranging from $225 – $475. The collection consists of five quilted, all black strapped handbags. Surely, soon all fashion, leather magazines will write about this elegant collection. Especially, with the brand being new in the business as it has never before produced leather goods. “We loved the idea of taking one of our bestselling bags from the Oxford collection, the Metro Tote, and producing it in a luxe leather version at what will be the highest price in our collection. It’s interesting to play with the high-low contrast,” added Wallace Eustice.
As we learn from latest leather news, the catwalks have shown us that metallic, bright colours, snake print and heavy embroidered print are going to appear this fall 2016. The accessories have moved from structured design to the new slouch, and the new bucket bag look has made an appearance. The more casual everyday bag allows for an array of different purposes. As indicated by various leather magazines, the slouch look also makes way for the trend of large chains. These chains can be wrapped around the leather very easily and contort the shape of the bag. It also makes way for more extravagant embossed and embroidered leathers.
With the current economic situation through-out the world, brands are starting to adhere to this more by using cheaper materials. Should these leather news trouble the industry? Opting in for printed leathers rather than exotic skins would suggest this, however could this be for cost or is this a defence against animal rights? Are they starting to bend to the pressure? These heavily printed or foiled leathers can be bought at relatively cheap prices as all the defects are hidden by this, making way for higher profits as materials become more obtainable.
Another trend that can be seen on the catwalk is three quarter and full length gloves, with the use of double face and fur trim. This season have a wide variety of textures and use of different raw materials. There is a fair amount of sheep and bovine being used this season with a small usage of goat. Surely we will be able to enjoy more inspirations for this fall’s accessories in upcoming fashion, leather magazines.
